The Occupy movement is an international protest movement against alleged social and economic inequality, its primary goal being to make the economic structure and power relations in society more favorable to the underclasses. Different local groups among the prime concerns is the claim that large corporations and the global financial system control the world in a way that disproportionately benefits a minority, undermines democracy and is unstable.

A demonstration or street protest is action by a mass group or collection of groups of people in favor of a political or other cause; it normally consists of walking in a mass march formation and either beginning with or meeting at a designated endpoint, or rally, to hear speakers.
